The History of Odyssey Emulators

Magnavox Odyssey 1 Emulator / ODYEMU (1999)

ODYEMU

The Magnavox Odyssey Emulator, or simply Odyemu, the first Odyssey emulator, was released in November 1999 by the duo Paul Robson and David Winter. Paul is known for developing emulators for Gameboy, NES, Atari, and others, and David for being a historian of the world of video games.

The emulator was created to run in MS-DOS mode, and on a 286 computer. At the time, the emulator was updated throughout the month of November, having its last update in December, also in 1999. In February 2011, it had its last update. The curious thing is that it was not ported to Windows mode, even being updated in 2011.
